JILL TOYOSHIBA has been a photojournalist with The Kansas City Star since 2002. She has also worked or interned at The Pinnacle (Hollister, Calif.), the Chicago Tribune and the Herald News (West Paterson, NJ).
A native of Honolulu, Jill chased her family around with her camera until she went to study microbiology in San Francisco and work in research laboratories. Later, she lived and worked in London, UK, and Bangkok, Thailand, traveled to India, went looking for goshawks in Alaska, hooted for owls in Arizona and worked in biotech labs again before returning to school at San Jose State University to study photojournalism.
She lives to tell stories.
